Girls Night Out!

I went out for a much needed girls night out last night. It was Megan's birthday, so we went to Red Robin. YUM! Then, we went back to her house for Cake. Again, YUM!! Anyway, here are some pictures.

They brought her out a treat and sang to her. She's pretty shy, so she didn't like it. She said she would have covered her eyes if she could.

One side of the table, Alexis, Rebecca & Karen

The other side: Megan, Brandy, Me, Shelby & Maggie

The whole table. Sorry this is kinda dark, I guess that's what happens when you leave your fate in the hands of your waitress!

Cake back at Megans. Doesn't that cake look yummy? I spent all day working on it. (Ya, right. Thanks Kroger!!)

I didn't get home until after 1 am. It's almost 11 and I am already set for another girls night out!!

Back to school

Kennie headed to Kindergarten and Justin is in his last year of preschool. Kennie was so excited to start school that he was up at 6:30 this morning. Here are the pictures. Kennie asked me if I would take his picture and go. "I am a big boy now Mom, I don't need you here."

I am ready!!

He loves his Superman backpack with the cape.

Standing by his backpack. He is a little nervous. He has a new teacher and new classmates this year. He knows 1 girl in his class from church. He did say at the end of the day that he misses Robby in his class. Robby & his family moved to South Carolina in March.

Kennie is getting to old

Last night, we went to Back to school night to meet his teacher, Mrs. P. (Pagniano). While we were walking up to the school, I told Kennie to take my hand since we were walking in the street. He then whispers under his breath, "Mom, when we get to the sidewalk, can I let go of your hand?" Oh, my! He is my tender one and he already doesn't want to hold my hand??

My little boy is growing up

So, my mom left to go back to her life today and with her took Nate's paci. (Not really, but that's what we are telling Nate.) So, he had to go to sleep without his paci tonight. On top of that, we put him in his Diego bed. He had some troubles getting to sleep. We will see what the night brings.

"These things take time you know."

So, this is quite the funny story. Kennie is in love. We were at softball probably about 2 months ago when Kennie proposed. He was playing with Hannah (she will be 6 in October, he likes them older I guess.) Here is how the converstaion went:

Kennie - "Hannah, do you want to marry me?"
Hannah thinks for a moment then says, "Ya, I think I do."
Kennie - "Good, because I want to marry you."

For a few weeks, all he could talk about was marrying Hannah. We saw them at the lunch park a few weeks later and Kennie convinced me to invite Hannah over to play for the afternoon. They had a blast. (That is when the picture was taken.) A few days later, we see them at the lunch park again and this time Hannah & her mom invite Kennie to play at Hannah's house. On their way home, Kennie was talking with Kim (Hannah's mom) and this is how the conversation went (Kim's part is not word for word, but Kennie's for the most part is.)

Kennie - "I want to marry Hannah."
Kim - "Well, maybe when you are older."
Kennie - "Maybe when I get back from my mission, like when I'm 21 or 22. These things take time you know."

Okay, so thought I was going to die. He still talks about marrying Hannah. She is a way cute girl, so I really wouldn't mind, but I think it's quite comical how much he thinks about it. Maybe in 16 years, we can look back on this post and he can just laugh!!!

Maggie's 2 month check-up

So, our appointment line is jacked up. I called 2 weeks before Maggie was 2 months and the appointments were a month out. Anyway, moving on. To say that Maggie doesn't like shots is an understatement. She has nursed every hour and a half since she got her shots. The only exception is at night. She is so tired from only taking cat naps all day long (10 minutes here and there) that she zonks out at night. Anyway, here is her info.

2 month statistics

weight: 10 lbs 6 oz - 25th percentinle (Kennie was 14 lbs. and Justin was 15 lbs)
Height: 23 1/4 inches - 75th percentile

Here is a picture of her battle wounds. You can see she still isn't happy.

The Lord Works in Mysterious Ways!

So, I can't believe I am about to write what I am going to write. A few years ago, I would have sworn that I would never have gotten to this point, but I have.

Today started off okay. I got a job (I'll explain more later), I watched Sol for a few hours, and We (4 adults, Mom, Cynthia, Susan and I) took 15 kids to lunch at the park. This is where the story takes an unusual turn. While at the park, Hannah (check for an upcoming post on Hannah) begged her mom to let Kennie come play. She agreed and I agreed. So, down 1 child. In trying to explain this to a heartbroken Justin (why Kennie could go play with Hannah but he couldn't) the neighbor Dallin asked Justin if he wanted to come play at his house for the afternoon. I made sure it was okay with his mom. Down 2 kids. What am I going to do with myself. So, we came home from the park, put Nate and Luke down for their naps. Maggie is asleep in her car seat.

So, I have a few hours to get stuff done. Why is it then, I ask myself, that I don't even know where to start. When there is confusion and kids screaming and getting sippy cups, snacks, meals and all the other fun stuff that moms do, I have an endless list of stuff that I need to get done. Now that there are no kids, no noise, no sippy's to fill, no snacks to get (except for myself) and no emotional outbursts, I sit dumbfounded. Where do I start? So, in my time of peace, I am longing for the fights, the "quit running around the circle," "don't hit your brother," "Nate, get out of there."

I have been praying lately for help understanding why I have been been given so many blessings(kids) and how I can manage better to get all the things I want to get done in a reasonable amount of time so I can get at least a few hours of sleep. The Lord answered my prayers in an unusual way. He sent me what I wanted, peace and quite.

Just a side note, in my peace and quite, I was able to clean the kitchen (real good too), change out the laundry, talk to a friend I hadn't talked to in a while, clean a bit in the scrapbook room and run an errand. I am now off to pick up Kennie and the babysitter so that mom and I can take Kennie and Justin to a baseball game tonight.

One more side note, we miss you Aaron. For those of you who don't know, Aaron is in San Antonio working with the GI team at Lackalnd Air Force Base and interviewing for fellowship (Please pray that we will get this spot.) The boys miss you like crazy. I miss you too, but hope you are using this time to get some of your "stuff" done for your conference in November.

Thank you for listening to my rant. I am off!!

Miss Mags

My dad decided he is going to call Maggie, Mags, so my mom has been calling her Miss Mags. Now, even the boys are calling her Miss Mags.

We were going to take all 5 kids to get their pictures taken until Nate broke out in a rash. We got them all these cute camo/orange outfits. Maggie looked way to cute so I had to take a picture.

This one is my Grandma, my Mom, me and Maggie. 4 generations of women.
