Pinkerific

When I found out Maggie was a girl, I swore that pink would not be a main color in my house.  I have never liked pink.  If I had to pick between pink and any other color, I would choose the other color.  Of coarse, Maggie's favorite color is pink.  Imagine how much fun I had planning her Pinkalicous Birthday Party.  Yep, - FUN!!

In case you don't know the story of the book, she eats too many pink cupcakes and in order to return to her normal color, she has to eat a steady diet of green food.  She chooses not to and instead eats another pink cupcake and turns red.  This makes her unhappy so she eats the steady diet of green food and changed back to her normal self.  So everything today was either pink, red or green.

Maggie in front of the food table.  We had pink pasta (with green Alfredo sauce), strawberries, raspberries, red jello, pink covered pretzels, pink gogurts and pink lemonade punch mixed with lime sherbet.  The green food consisted of cucumbers, pickles, applesauce, grapes and kiwi.

All the kids eating.  We had 15 kids total.  (While they were eating, I read to them the Pinkalicious Story.)

After eating, we played Pinko (bingo).  I spent hours making each of the 16 boards different so that the boards weren't all matching.  (We didn't get a picture of that.  Sorry.  If you are interested in the boards, let me know and I can e-mail them to you.)

After Pinko we played pin the candle on the cupcake.  Here is the birthday girl.

Here is Adrianna getting ready.

Here is the birthday girl who couldn't really focus because she was so excited.

I just had to throw this one in there.  She looks so happy here.

Cupcakes!!!

Next was cupcakes.  She picked pink lemonade and (the very best) lemon buttercream frosting.  Oh, so good!!

Here is Sassy Junior enjoying her cupcake!  (Again, too cute)

We had to burn off some of the sugar, so we jumped on the tramp.  Our poor tramp hasn't had that many kids on at one time ever.

Present time - this was especially fun for me to watch because besides Christmas, Maggie hasn't ever really had a big opening presents thing.  She was ripping paper everywhere.

Presents were paused while everyone attacked Aaron and tickled him.  He didn't like that part very much.

This was the kids favorite part.  Pinata time!!  That thing weighed so much.  But the kids loved it.  Check out the next few pictures.

Everyone going crazy.  So funny to watch.

Here are the kids with all their loot.  Happy kids.

This was the goody bag.  There was the steady diet of green food, pink crown sucker, watermelon sucker, pencil with phone number notebook, pink chocolate coin, tootsie roll (pink), birthday/cupcake sticker sheet, pink gooey putty, crown bubbles, and hand sanitizer.  Not picture but included in the bag is a bookmark that I made with a quote from the Pinkalicious book (If you would like this file, let me know and I can e-mail it to you).

Maggie was in Heaven the whole time.  I am so thankful she has been able to find her niche here in San Diego and surrounds herself with people she enjoys being with.  Now - that's it until April of 2015!!  Hooray!

Ssssuch a good time!

Today was Kennie's birthday party.  Kennie's actual birithday is April 24th, but that was the worst day of my antibiotics from my bone infection, so I spent the majority of the day laying on the floor in the bathroom.  I didn't have energy to do much.  I wasn't able to get his invites out in time for a party around his birthday, so we fit it in today.  He choose a while back to do a reptile party and I was stumped when I tried to figure out what to do.  We finally decided to do Reptile Jeopardy since most of the kids were going to be older.  Take a look at how it went?

The food table.  We enjoyed Swamp Juice (limeade, sprite & lime sorbet), Frogs in Dirt (like dirt in worms only frogs), Snake Sandwich (french bread sandwich), Snake Eyes (green grapes), Red Gecko Eggs (strawberries), Red Iguana Tail (watermelon), Red Racer Scales (Nacho Cheese Doritos), Orange Belly Newt Fingers (Cheetos), and awesome cupcakes.

Closer picture of my spectacular cupcakes.

Kids (and Aaron) enjoying the food.

Jeopardy!  (This took so much of my time.  Seriously stressed myself out.  If you would like to do reptile jeopardy, let me know and I'll send you my file.  It'll cut out a bunch of work for you!)

I love his face in this picture.  He was planning on using his money from Grandma & Grandpa Burnside to buy him a tennis racket so he could play with Justin!  Love it!!

Blowing out his candles.  He took his wishing seriously!!

Pinata.  He LOVED beating his from up!!  (Do you know how hard it is to find a reptile pinata.  Just saying!  Thankfully I found this frog!!)

All in all, it was a very successful party!!  Happy Birthday my Tween Boy!!

Justin Loves Football!! Happy 9th!

Justin turns 9 today.  He was super excited to have his birthday on a Saturday so his party could be on a Saturday.  (Mom - not so much.  I have 3 birthday parties for my kids on 3 consecutive Saturdays!!)

Justin Choose a Seahawks Football Party

The Party Landscape

The Food.  We had Quarterback Cupcakes, Game Day Nachos, Goal Time Pizza, First Down Fruit and Half Time Hot dogs   I wrapped the green utensils in a Seahawks Napkin and then tied a football paper around it.

Close-up of the Quarterback Cupcakes and treat bags.  (I amazed myself here folks!)

This picture is a bunch of burping boys who kind-of ate their food.

First game we played.  Football corn hole.  Is there such a thing?

Next came the pinata.  Everyone got 2 turns then we let Justin beat the crap out of it.  He sure had fun!

We had one happy birthday boy.  I am a miracle worker today in his eyes!!  I had a lot of fun.  1 down 2 to go.  Happy Birthday to my cuddly, sweet and super hard working 9 year old!!

Let the mass posts begin!

I have a few minutes, so I thought I would start.  Enjoy your update.

Up first, Kennie's Birthday!  Kennie turned 7.  Hard to believe that I am old enough to have a 7 year old, I know.  I was a youngin when he was born.  Ha!  Anyway, we had a family/friend celebration and then a separate party for his friends.  This is the family party.  We had a few friends over.  The Hurst's and the Smith's.  Oh, the missionaries were here too!  Enjoy!  He's excited that there is only 1 more year until he is baptized.

Totally loving 30!!!

I am 30! I didn't dread 30 as much as a lot of other people I have talked to. For some weird reason, it is okay to have 4 kids if your 30, so now I am ok! J Anyway, here is a list of 30 random things about me. Some you may already know and some you may not!

  1. I started out wanting 6 kids. That only changed after I had Maggie. There is no way I can handle any more!
  2. I am an NFL fanatic. I love Sundays because of Football. Church is awful (at least for the time being, with the kids so young) but I get to watch football! (GO COLTS!!!)
  3. I don't do the dishes every night before I go to bed.
  4. I prefer ham for Thanksgiving!
  5. I CANNOT stand Pie at any time of year (Comes with a birthday around Thanksgiving!)
  6. Is loving living close to a Costco!!
  7. When I was 10, I beat up my babysitter. She locked me in my room and I snuck out my window and "ran away."
  8. I can turbo clean if listening to Metallica, Tori Amos or Sarah McGlochlin.
  9. I have enrolled in a cake decorating class for December!
  10. I really don't like the brown/pink combo (and I am not in the closed either – Dana!)
  11. The one thing in life is to make people happy. My kids, my husband, my friends and even strangers!
  12. I was almost bald until I was 2! When I turned 3, I had Shirley Temple ringlets down to my waste.
  13. I lost my Wedding ring somewhere in Idaho while visiting my grandparents.
  14. When I was 4, I sang "I am a Child of God" in front of all the guests at my grandparents 25th Wedding anniversary!
  15. I have soft spot for Justin and love it when he comes to cuddle with me!
  16. I want to take a photography class. (Not that I don't have enough to do!)
  17. I need a new cell phone. Don't quite know where mine is right now. Only 1 month until I can switch to AT & T
  18. Took 1st place in regional's (Debate Tournament) every year of High School!
  19. Lettered in Debate my sophomore year of High School!
  20. Saw the light and switched from Mountain Dew to Diet Cherry Coke!!
  21. Love me a Blue Cheese Bacon Burger from Red Robin!
  22. I am a sucker for a good deal!
  23. I am currently stuck on 2 CD's – Full Circle (Creed) and a Hilary Weeks CD.
  24. When I was born, I had 8 sets of grandparents.
  25. I am the youngest person (as of 1998) to be diagnosed with Graves Disease.
  26. During Christmas time, my favorite CD to listen to is Connie Lou's Christmas (Forgotten Carrols.)
  27. I don't have any memories under the age of 8. My brother died when I was 7 ½ and I guess the way I dealt with it was to block it out.
  28. I have been engaged (kinda) 3 times. Once in high school (3 years) and I was waiting for a missionary when I met Aaron and then Aaron.
  29. Since I have been married, I have lived in Utah, D.C., Ohio and Alaska!
  30. I love to be surrounded by the people I love. So, since you are here and read my list, leave me a message and show me some love!!

I got the best birthday present ever. All 4 kids slept through the night. Kennie gave me a note (see below) telling me how much he loves me and I didn't have to have a pap smear at my doctors appointment this morning! It is a great day!!!

Note from Kennie:

Dear Mom,

Kennie's 6th Birthday!

Kennie's birthday was on a Friday this year and his school was doing a night at the Dayton Dragons (a minor league baseball team.) Kennie really wanted to go. So, I got 5 tickets and planned on leaving Maggie home. I decided the day before that I really didn't want to take Nate with me, so I left him with the babysitter and asked Kennie who he wanted to go with him. He chose Hannah. For those of you who don't remember Hannah, you can go here. It's quite the funny story.

The best part of the night was when Hannah put the move on (and I caught it in pictures.) Remember that old school move where you would yawn and then put your arm around your date? Well, Hannah didn't yawn, but she should have. She lifted her elbow up onto her knee and sat there for a minute. Then stretched her arm out and put it on Kennie's shoulder. I thought I would die of laughter. I couldn't stop! No one would believe me if I didn't get it in pictures. Enjoy! What a good story!

He enjoyed his birthday this year. He got a Wii game, a Ben 10 watch (I don't like these older kid cartoons!!), a Ben 10 shirt, a Ben 10 action figure, a ball Frisbee, $6 and a digital camera. We are doing a small party for him soon. He is excited about that. He sure enjoys his friends here in Ohio and I am sure we will miss it more than we can even imagine right now!!

Happy Birthday Kennie. I LOVE YOU!!

It's my birthday...

Well, not really. I went out with my girlfriends tonight (only a few could make it. There are 3 that wanted to come but had the stomach flu. We missed you, but thanks for not coming!)

We went to Sake (a knock-off of Benni Hanna). I was in Heaven. One of my favorite places! On our way out the door, Shelby said, "Happy Birthday!" and the guy walking out behind us said "Yea, Happy Birthday!" Wow. This is the longest my birthday has ever lasted! I guess my birthday comes to a close tonight! Farewell 28. Hello 29. I can't believe I am only 29. I feel much older than that. 4 kids will do it to you!
