Trip to Downton Dayton

We went downtown Dayton to the "exploding water" as Kennie would say. The boys didn't do much more than you can see. I think Aaron got more wet than either of the boys. Somehow, Justin managed to stay dry!!

Life is crazy...some summer pictures!!

Life has been crazy. We have been going nonstop for a few weeks. Aaron graduated from Internship (1st year of residency) and is looking forward to being a Senior Resident. We have been to the new intern picnic and a BBQ thrown by Wright State University (Aarno's program) to meet all the new interns. It is quite funny to me to watch the new interns. How can you tell the interns from the seniors? It's quite a simple answer. The new interns can talk only about what to expect and who their senior is and where they are going to be and when they are doing certain rotations. The seniors talk about anything BUT work and where they are going to be. I just sit back and laugh!!

The boys have had a blast playing in the pool. It has been quite warm so we set up the pool, put their suits on, lather them with sunblock and let them splash away!!











Nate's not sure he likes the big boy pool. He much prefers playing in his little pool.

Here the boys are enjoying a summer treat with their friends Olivia (between Justin and Kennie) and Kate (between Kennie and Nate). They had a great time when they came over to play!! They all enjoyed their "frozen treat."

Superman in thought...

Justin and Kennie received Superman and Batman capes for their birthdays from their Grandma and Grandpa Lewis. They are a hit. Kennie likes to jump off the couch. I happen to catch this picture of him thinking of his next move!

The master bedroom

This is the view of the master bedroom from the door. So much bigger when compared to the last house. It feels great to have room!!

This is the view from the bathroom door. The door you see is our walk in closet. Didn't take a picture of that. Not much to see other than cloths on the rods!! You'll notice Aaron's stack of cloths. That is the great thing about being the photographer. I knew when I was going to take the picture so I put all mine away. He will put his away when he comes home from work tonight!! Sorry Al!!

Here is the view from Aaron's nightstand. You can see out the door to the landing and you can see the wall and rail for the stairs. The baby gate is to keep Nate from going head first down the stairs since he has become so interested in them!! Our dresser has a TV on it. Mainly for when Aaron has to stay the night at the hospital. I put the TV on sleep mode and it is easier for me to fall asleep with the TV on.

Here is the view from my nighstand. You can see the bathroom door and our huge window. We have curtains on our list of home improvements now. This is the first time we have really needed them. I just need to decide what color I want the curtains.

Quality time and Nate's new Adventures

They call this quality time. Kennie, Justin, Nate and dad all playing "Intendo." We finally broke down after a week of telling them no and let them play for a bit. It didn't last long though, they heard their friends playing outside so they were off! You can sneak peaks of our new house in a few of these pictures. This is the family room looking into the dining room. We are working on the boxes. They should be done soon so I can do an openhouse at the end of the month. It is nice to finally be home!!!




Nate has fully figured out how to "really" crawl. He is all over the place. He has started cruzing along the furnitures. Soon he will start walking! He is already trouble, so can I call that double trouble even though there is only 1 of him?? He is a much happier kid now that he can get around!!!

The stairs have become Nate's new conquest. It's been rather hot here, and we haven't ventured very far because of all the boxes that are driving me crazy, thus he is only wearing a onsie!! He is determined that he is going to sneak up those stairs. He tries and tries, but I always catch him. One of these days, he is going to make it. At least they are carpeted in this house....

Nate'a new favorite food is the meat stick. He will scarf one down in mearly seconds. I think they smell discusting. Kennie tells me that they don't taste that bad. I think I'll have to take his word for it!!

Our new house....and our hole in the wall!

This is our new home. 5506 Cottonrose Dr. Dayton, OH 45431. It is so nice and big inside. It is nice to have a normal looking house that is normal to live in. I will have to search through old pictures and find a picture of the old house. You will not believe the difference.

This is the result of a vacation for Aaron! That will be the joke from now on. We found out last night that the microwave survived. We officially only lost the microwave cart and we needed a new one anyway because Aaron busted the wheel off the old one when he moved. Now, it's just a bunch of boxes I need to unpack. They jumped me right back into the ward by asking me to do a big portion of Young Women's tomorrow night and to help withe the baby shower for a girl in the ward on Wednesday night. Yikes....so much to do and so many boxes, where does a girl start? I guess I better start by making dinner, off to slave over the hot stove since it's raining!!!

The boys get new bikes...

Yesterday was a big day for the boys. Because they were so good on the trip back, we told them we would buy them both a bike. So, off to the store we went. They were pretty excited to ride their new bikes....

Back to life....Back to relality!!

So, we made it home from Utah safe and sound. We started Tuesday morning and made it to Kearney, Nebraska before we had to stop that night. It was raining so hard and we didn't feel good about going on. We would have gone another couple of hours. We got the boys out of the car and they we WIRED!!! Kennie and Justin were running around the hotel room and Nate was going crawling crazy!! They were up for about an hour before they finally settled down and went to bed.

We were aiming to leave the hotel by 8:00. Aaron set his alarm and we went to bed. Nate started talking, so I got up to get him and looked at the clock. It was 8:15! Aaron's palm pilot was still set at Mountain Time!! We were slow getting everyone but Nate going, so we didn't leave until about 9:30. We arrived in Dayton at 1:30 in the morning on Thursday. We were so excited to be home!

We walked in the house and I could hear water running....this is where you take in a deep breath!! Went upstairs and there was water all over the floor in the boys bathroom. Aaron tried to find the shut off, but didn't know where to look. He went out to the car to get Justin since he wouldn't wake up. (Nate and Kennie were once again going crazy!!) Well, I decided to take a tour of the house since I hadn't seen it with our stuff in it. So, I walk into the Kitchen/Mud room and found part of the ceiling on the floor. Yep, you read it right. The water from the toilet upstairs had leaked into the floor and since there is no where for it to sit, it came right through the ceiling and there was a puddle of water in our mud room. The light in the laundry room was hanging by the cord. Totally fell off the ceiling. All I could think to do is scream at Aaron. He couldn't figure out why I was screaming and walked in the room and was speechless.

This is when I am glad we are not home owners. We called maintenance at 1:45 in the morning. They came and brought in a shop vac and cleaned up the water and did what he could then to contain the situation. We ended up getting to bed around 3:30. Maintenance was back at 8:30 and luckily I was the only one that heard the doorbell. The rest of my family slept until 10:45. They brought in a carpet cleaner (water leaked into one of the rooms upstairs next to the bathroom.) He also cleaned our 6 rugs that were on the floor downstairs. He was really nice. Then, he came back a bit later to cut down the sheet rock and measure for the new sheet rock. The kinda fixed the toilet, but want to do some more work.

Come to find out, a part inside the tank popped off and water was spraying everywhere and overflowing the tank. We are very blessed. We didn't loose much if anything. We are unsure about the microwave, but figure we will have to replace it since the main portion of the water fell on top of the microwave cabinet. We are also unsure about the washer and dryer, but are hopeful that all the water stayed in front of the washer and dryer and they won't need to be replaced.

Kennie was pretty excited to go back to school yesterday. There were 2 kids in the room when he got there. Conner bolted across the room to give him a hug and welcome him back and told Kennie he missed him. Sammie was jumping up and down and kept repeating, "Kennie's back, Kennie's back." The teachers were very excited and one of his teachers told me when I went back to get him that she sure did miss him. I looked at her with a puzzled look on my face and she told me that, "Kennie has a calming spirit about him and when he's here, all the kids just act better and are nicer to each other." This made me feel very proud of him. He is setting a great example of what he has been taught.

Back to life again. Aaron went to work this morning for his last rotation as an intern. There was an intern graduation last night. He had to go early for pictures and the boys and I were on a walk. Before we even got back to the house, I realized I forgot to grab my keys and Aaron didn't realize that I didn't take them, so the boys and I were locked out of the house. By the time we got back in, there wasn't any way to make it to the graduation. He said it was nice. He will be a senior resident starting July 1st. GO AARON!!!

The line in the song, "Back to life, back to reality," means even more to me now....

Nate's done with his bottle, so I better run!! I'll try and post more later.
