Reality

I have some spare time this morning (the kids were all playing nicely) and decided to sit down and play some tunes on the piano. I pulled out one of Marvin Goldstein's books and opened to "God Be With You 'Till We Meet Again" and didn't think anything about it. A few measures into the song, the words started running through my mind and the tears started to fall.

Reality hit. We are really leaving Dayton. This was a very hard reality check for me. Dayton is home for me. I know we have no choice to leave, but I don't want to. I wish I could just put my foot down and say we are staying. Stop looking for homes (our good home fell through), stop planning for movers, and not say goodbye to all our our friends (family) here. We are less than 2 months away from pulling out of here for the last time.

I have honestly never been so sad to leave a place as I am leaving here. And we are still 2 months away. What a way to spend a Friday! I can't seem to stop the tears and don't think I will be able to today. The words to that song won't stop running through my head. Maybe I will turn on some Tori Amos and try to drive it out of my head. Ya, that sounds like a great idea!!

On a happier note, Christina came to visit yesterday. It's been more than a year since we have seen her. Kennie, Justin & Nate were in Heaven. There are no words to describe how I felt. It was AWESOME!! She brought Sissy (her mother-in-law) and we sat in the Family Room and talked for hours while the kids played out back. Seriously! It was that great!! Rick, Christina, Bella, Robby, Carli & Tessa, we miss you so much!! Come visit in Alaska!!

Sending you hugs. I know just how you feel. Sadly, it doesn't get any better - every time we have to move I am sad to go. Just think of it as having friends all over the world!

Yes, I know you how you feel, too. I still cry. I like it where I'm at, though. I know you will love Alaska, too, and soon, you will call it home, as well.

You can count on us visiting! For sure not until next year probably, but when we do, it will be a blast!

Sniffle, sniffle. It is hard to leave a place/ people that you love! But rest assured that you aren't the only one who will be sad. If you find a good kleenex sale in the next few weeks, let me know about it!

We will love Alaska. We can make fantastic new friends (family...our friends here in Virginia are definitely our family too!) and be in a new and exciting place. No worries, you will love it! Thank goodness for the internet, we can keep up with everybody!

(Wow, you guys already found a house?!)
